Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph Datsun 240Z Limited Edition SSC957

Inspired by one of the world's most iconic rally cars

Launched in 1969, the Datsun 240Z became a worldwide hit, not only in Japan but also in North America. With the aim of demonstrating its high performance as a sports car, the Datsun 240Z began to participate in world rally competitions. Seiko, sharing Datsun’s spirit for taking on challenges, supported the Datsun 240Z in motorsports activities in the early 1970s. This new Limited Edition Speedtimer is inspired by that legendary Datsun, and is powered by Seiko's own V192 solar chronograph movement, which offers a 24-hour indicator, a time of day seconds hand, a 60-minute chronograph in a sub-dial at six o’clock and a power reserve function, which reflects the watch's ability to run autonomously for approximately six months when fully charged. 

Over to the dial, the Arabic numerals and bezel tachymeter take inspiration from the font used on the Datsun 240Z dashboard. Its bi-color aluminum bezel with tachymeter is the icon for Speedtimer’s masterpiece archive model which is highly valued in the vintage market. The bracelet enhances the appearance of the watch and is well matched to the case size for an excellent balance. The center of the bracelet is black with a hard coating in an homage to the hood and trunk of the Datsun 240Z. The case back is adorned with an original illustration of the winning rally car, Datsun 240Z. The words "Limited Edition" and the serial number are applied on the case back.
